Yep, ratings are legit. A line that literally would not move. At least thats how it felt. Finally this Patron came out and said if we go through the side door we can sit at the bar and order food with no wait. A much appreciated cheat code! Sat down odered a local beer and had food within 10minutes of walking in. Alex was cool. He explained that the owner was open minded and understanding of the reality that there is a lot of styles of BBQ out there and that there is no wrong way to go about it as long as it tastes amazing! This shines through in his food! We literally ordered almost everything on the menu. Lol Brisket- seasoned nicely, moist and tender with that smoke flavor you expect from BBQ. Durok Pork Ribs- my favorite from this meal. Again tender, smokey and the basic seasoning of salt and peper with a another spice I couldn't put my finger on was nicely done! Quality piece of meat. The Sausage- was not my favorite but edible and was still good. The Smoked Chicken Wings- again seasoned nicely, tender and smokey(are you catching on to the pattern?) The double cheeseburger was so damn good as well. You can tell the quality of meat in this burger! We had the mac n cheese an

Came to Roanoke for the weekend to hang and Mama Jean’s was recommended as a must go to. We sat in the bar area and Alex was tending. He was so personable and friendly, it was like going to a place and visiting a good friend. Everything we ate was amazing. Started with a few hot dogs and then moved to the whole hog platter. All while Alex was talking about the farm the pig was from and how everything was made. Got completely stuffed and then tried the vinegar pie which Alex mentioned was better than the banana pudding. All and all what an amazing experience. Great food, great hospitality. I don’t ever do reviews but I felt the need to put this positive experience out there.

Traveling full time for work, I dine at restaurants constantly, and it's a rare thing to find one with the perfect combination of service, a great bar, and fantastic food. Mana Jeans is exactly that. I had the Brisket with potato salad, the brisket was perfect, and the potato salad was some of the best I've ever had. My son ordered the wings and fried ribs, yes, fried. In beef tallow, served with gorgonzola and buffalo sauce. Amazing. In the car, heading home, he commented that, the wings he had may have been the best he'd ever had. High praise, indeed. To top it all off, the bar is very well stocked, particularly with regard to bourbon, and our bartender, Jaryd, is simply a master craftsman behind the bar. If you're looking for a reasonably priced, casual restaurant, with fantastic food, served by great staff, then you've got to try Mama Jeans - you won't be sorry.

An absolutely wonderful place. The food is fantastic with generous portions. Two people could easily share the mac and cheese serving. While it is a barbecue place, they made homemade hot dogs which were out of this world! I love them with slaw and chili in what I call the traditional Southern style. And they were perfect. Manager, Eric came around to talk to us and explain some of the menu items. He was very friendly and we will definitely be going back again soon

These guys are super popular....and for good reason. Food was solid, pricing was fair, and service was good. There was a bit of line when we got there but that's how it goes with something that everyone wants a piece of. With that said, the line moved pretty good and the food didn't take long to get. We were able to score a couple seats at a bigger table and another couple joined the table within minutes. Brisket and pulled pork were both smoked perfect. Went with two sides - brussel sprouts and mac 'n cheese...both of which were tasty. Would definitely go back. Kudos Mama Jean's BBQ.
